This cookbook brims with great recipes and is highly recommended.
I found a lot of new and interesting ideas when I leafed through the new 300 Sensational Soups. These recipes cover a lot of ground... But what really grabbed my attention was the wealth of creative recipes.
There were many good soup books published in 2008, but this one was my favorite because of its variety and creativity. There are 300 soups in here to choose from, and many of them would make a perfect meal, perhaps with some crusty bread and a tossed green salad. Given the current economic climate, soup for supper is an excellent idea.
Ten chapters cover soul nurturing, with soups for every season, from traditional comfort food to exotic adventures in a bowl. Tips are included with the 300 recipes: San Marzano tomatoes, imported from Italy, are thought by many to be the best canned tomatoes in the world. Mushrooms will be much happier if stored in your refrigerator in a paper bag. In the \"Gilding the Lily\" chapter there is even a brownie crouton recipe that can be used for this rich and easy luscious recipe from the \"Just Dessert Soups\" chapter. How about this for a midnight snack!
I've never been much of a soup person. That is, until about a month and a half ago when I got this insatiable craving for soup. Suddenly, I can't seem to get enough. About two weeks into my soup phase, I ordered 300 Sensational Soups thinking maybe I could make some soup and skip the canned stuff. Being as I never really liked soup, I was a bit intimidated at first so I just started making whatever made me salivate while reading. Then, I got a bit more adventurous as I came to realize how easy it was to make these delicious recipes. I can't see myself buying canned soup anymore -- especially when there are some really tasty things I can create in half an hour to forty-five minutes. When it comes to soup, nothing compares to homemade.
