Black History Month at the University of Saskatchewan honours the legacy and contributions of members of the university's Black community. It is a time to listen to and learn about the accomplishments and lived experiences of the Black community. Join us every February for activities and learning opportunities about Black History Month.

Proceeds from the sale of the Black History Month shirts will go towards funding the Black Faculty and Staff Caucus Student Award. The award was created to recognize and support the academic achievement, excellence in leadership, and community engagement of undergraduate and graduate students who self-identify as Black, which includes but is not limited to, African, Black Caribbean, Black North American, and multi-racial students who have and identify with their Black ancestry, and are enrolled in a degree program at the University of Saskatchewan. Applications for the award will open in March 2026. Students interested in applying can find more information through the Scholarships and Bursaries channel in PAWS.

The Black Faculty and Staff Caucus (BFSC) is the voice of all Black faculty and staff at the University of Saskatchewan (USask) and was created to provide support and guidance to members, increase their visibility and engagement on campus, and harmonize their common interests to promote a transparent, collegial, and inclusive learning and working environment.

In 2024 the BFSC awarded the first Black Faculty and Staff Caucus Student Award.
